CBC Launches Annual Voting Competition To Spark Engagement Amongst Musicians

As part of its annual Searchlight talent competition, CBC is hosting an exciting voting competition on its website in a bid to find Canada’s undiscovered musical talent. Participants can use the form provided to submit their entries in return for the chance to win a life-changing grand prize.

SEARCHLIGHT 2019 COMPETITION SOLUTION

Each year, CBC searches high and low for Canada’s undiscovered musical talent. For this year’s Searchlight, CBC is using a combination of audience voting and a panel of celebrity judges as part of its quest to find the best talent in town. And if being crowned the Searchlight 2019 winner wasn’t enough, CBC is giving away a grand prize including the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class and Juno Awards Experience, a week in a recording studio at the National Music Centre in Calgary and even the chance to perform at the 2019 CBC Music Festival.

The contest takes website visitors through a submission stage, public voting stage, and a final judging stage. To get involved, musicians can submit their file to their YouTube page of what they consider to be their best original song in any genre. Participants can then sign up using the Searchlight entry form by clicking the ‘Enter Now’ button and submitting their YouTube link, as well as other details surrounding their song choice, including the artist name, the song name, song credits and an artist bio. Before confirming their entry, participants are also required to confirm the check boxes at the bottom of the form.

Once musicians have submitted their entries, they can head over to the artist gallery to check out the competition, and listen to other entries for inspiration. CBC has also included a filter where visitors can sort the artist entries by region. Once submissions have closed, website visitors can then start voting for who they believe deserves to be crowned the winner.
