Mobile Survey Solution
The bee species plays a vital role in the world as a pollinator, but they are also increasingly under threat from a of range diseases and environmental changes. However, the good news is the population is steadily increasing in managed colonies in New Zealand, and they want to keep it that way!
As a result, NZ Gardener is working with scientists at Plant & Food Research to conduct the inaugural Great Kiwi Bee Count and they’re asking readers to get outside and take part during September.
The survey activation has been purposely optimized for smartphone users to encourage readers to easily take part whenever they’re outside. Entrants are asked where they are, what the habitat and weather is like and what kind of flowering plant they are observing: an edible, an ornamental, a native or a weed (plus the plant ID, if they know it).
Then they simply need to watch the plant for two minutes and record the number of the 12 bees and pollinator species NZ Gardener are surveying. As a helpful resource, ID shots of the 12 species are included to educate and guide participants.
The digital survey takes just a few minutes to complete. Upon completion, entrants simply need to submit their insights and valuable research, enabling NZ Reader to obtain rich audience data and the opportunity to capture valuable marketing opt-ins.
NZ Gardener is promoting the digital survey across its print magazine publication and online channels. Readers are encouraged to take part multiple times, as every completed count helps them build up a better picture of how bees are faring! Plus, as an incentive, every completed count gets entered in the draw to win a Classic Hose Trolley plus accessories from their partner Gardena, worth $240.
