The Wayin Platform empowers brands to collect consumer motivations, intentions, interests, and preferences at scale. Providing you with the data you need to make the right connections with your customers.
But to do this effectively we also strive to respect and address the data protection concerns many organizations have when trying to build these relationships with consumers. Compliance and privacy are at the core of what we do, and that is why we have invested in the following product and infrastructure enhancements in 2018:
“Our purpose is to facilitate honest, mutually-beneficial relationships between brands and consumers.”
1. GDPR Compliance And Beyond
Whether the GDPR in the EU, nascent CCPA in North America or other privacy legislation sweeping the globe, we pride ourselves on being compliance first and meeting all requirements in terms of data we process as part of our business, as well as in our role as a data processor on behalf of our customers. Specifically some of the many provisions we have made are the following:
- Carried out stringent reviews of all our suppliers and data processors
- Thorough review and enhancement of all internal processes
- Introduced more granular roles & permissions in the Wayin Platform
- Internal training and certification around data privacy & compliance for all Wayin employees
- Introduced customizable data retention controls
- Appointed Global Privacy Officer
- Established exacting processes to handle requests around the right to access, objection and to be forgotten
- As an organization that operates globally, we have applied the same privacy and compliance processes to all our customers not just in the EU, but in all territories and markets.
“We don’t sell personal data to anyone. We think that’s the standard and are happy to set it.”
2. Enhanced Roles And Permissions
In light of the data protection legislation discussed above, we have been working closely with our customers, who include some of the world’s most iconic brands, to identify their exact needs and have updated the roles available in the Wayin Experience Platform accordingly.
By revisiting the level of controls and permissions we’re giving a greater level of control in the management of users and helping meet the compliance standards of our customers.
All users will continue to have a main role and enjoy platform access, but can also be given additional roles for specific personal data-related features within the platform.
3. Stronger Password Standards
In its latest guidelines, the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) have recommended that users no longer have to regularly rotate their passwords.
Wayin aligns with the guidelines by requiring all internal users and customers to create robust passwords when making an account for the Wayin Platform to reduce the risk of compromised access. What’s more, we compare passwords to hundreds of millions of known compromised passwords before accepting them.

4. Support For Single-Sign-On (SSO)
Many of our customers will be logged into multiple platforms and tools on a daily basis, and therefore are required by their organizations to use Single-Sign-On for all the third-party software they use, including the Wayin Platform.
SSO provides access control to multiple related, yet independent, software systems. With this integration, a user logs-in with their main corporate login to gain access to a connected system. The authentication is handled by a trusted SSO provider of the customer’s choice.
5. EU And US Environments
In 2018, Wayin introduced a US Data Center in addition to our existing data center located in the EU. Thus meaning our customers can now specify where they want to have their data stored and processed based on their data privacy requirements.
6. Customizable Retention
A key facet of 2018’s GDPR legislation is ensuring that personal data are only held for as long as is necessary – and not indefinitely, as was the case with all too many organizations. This is not only a legal requirement, but good business practice as it reduces the volume of personal data under management, removes stale data and, in the event of a data breach, reduces the scale and impact on our customers and affected data subjects.
Wayin provides automated retention management which ensures ongoing compliance and avoids tedious and error-prone, manual procedures. Customers can define their retention periods and the system will take care of ensuring that data is only held in accordance with these instructions and is subsequently deleted securely and efficiently at any scale.
7. Australian Approval Of Electronic Drawing System
For our customers ‘down under,’ Australian legislation that requires all electronic winner selection systems to be approved before a draw starts.
As the Wayin Platform boasts built-in ‘Winner Selection’ and ‘Instant Win’ capabilities, we have sought, and been awarded, electronic drawing system approval so that customers to use these features within Australia.
